Target audience
For my media products I am thinking of doing a horror genre, the target audience would be teenagers up to any age who enjoy this type of film. Whereas if I did a game cover the target audience would generally be up to the age of 40 who once again enjoy the genre of horror.
Scott, you're little wide on your target audience, "teenagers up to any age..." It's hard to imagine the average 93 year old being into horror films, in any case, just because someone is into a genre doesn't make them part of a target audience. If I was into Disney children's films that makes me a fan of them, but I am not in the target audience because the producers don't have me in mind when they make the films.
ReplyDeleteSo who do the producers of horror films actually have in mind when they make the films? You are right that they have fans of the genre (a psychographic measure) in mind but in terms of age, gender etc (demographic measures) who do they aim for?
